Recently, my family spent a lovely evening having dinner with my daughter and son-in-law. Good conversation, good food, fun with the new kitty - you know, an overall pleasant evening. And then my darling daughter decided to make me work for my food. As in...dare I say it...exercise! Yes, that is an 8 letter bad word in my vocabulary. But, to humor her, I agreed to at least watch while she danced along with Michael Jackson The Experience on the Wii game console.
The game was a rental so I have not seen every facet of it but that won't stop me from reviewing it! The truth is it was a lot of fun! Although don't get me wrong - it's still exercise, which I loathe. But it's dressed up to look like you're just having a good time dancing along to "Beat It", "Billie Jean" and "Thriller". There are a total of 26 songs, many MJ favorites, old and new(er), as well as a few I never heard before. I don't consider myself a Jackson aficionado so I wasn't surprised to see a few songs that were unfamiliar to me. In the songs we played, we had the choice of being The King of Pop or his back-up dancers. Depending on the role you choose, the dance steps are different. MJ always performs the harder steps as noted when we started Thriller and the level of difficulty for his character was labeled as "Inhuman". Luckily for me the game system recognizes upper body movement more than lower as I have a bum knee and can't hop around quite as much as I used to. Lyrics are included at the bottom of the screen so you can sing along while dancing. Because I'm not already working hard enough just to dance, for heaven's sake! But younger and more agile people might be able to sing while dancing. So there's that.
Up to 4 people can play at a time which I'm sure could be hysterical. We had just 2 playing and found our wild arm actions tended to run into each other so 4 would have been tricky. At Amazon.com, reviewers gave this game, also available on PS3 and X-Box, 4.5 stars out of 5 and I certainly agree with them. Had I decided to dance more than one dance, I am sure I would have worked up a sweat and gotten some much needed exercise. But, as mentioned before, exercise and me are not Ebony and Ivory. Meaning we don't live together in perfect harmony. Any more than we absolutely have to.

Sounds fun! I might have to try that out...though, I also loathe the moving around for exercise. It's why we have cars. And escalators. :)
It is so much fun! We bought it for the kids for Easter! It definitely is a workout.
